How Much Does a Business Simulation Cost? Real Prices, 3 Models

By Doug Bolger|

A custom business simulation built on your own company costs $10,000 to $25,000 at Learn2. That covers the design, the build, and the first live cohort. After that, practice access for your whole team is $99 per person per year. Off-the-shelf classroom simulations can cost less than $50 per seat. Most corporate vendors publish no price at all.

That last part is the problem. You have a budget meeting coming. Finance wants a number. You search for a price and land on a page that says "request a demo." So you book three demo calls to learn three numbers, and you still cannot compare them.

This guide gives you the numbers we can stand behind. It shows the three ways business simulations are priced, what pushes the cost up or down, and how to do the per-person math before you talk to anyone.

How much does a business simulation cost? Three price models

Business simulations are sold three ways. Each one prices a different thing.

1. Per-seat software licenses. These are built for business school classrooms. Players run a made-up company on screen for a term. When we checked in August 2026, Interpretive Simulations listed its classroom simulations at $29.95 to $49.95 per user. This is the cheapest model by far. It is also somebody else's business. Your leaders run a made-up smartphone maker or hotel, then go back to work and run yours.

2. Enterprise platforms and vendor-run events. These are priced by quote. In August 2026 we checked seven searches a corporate buyer would run, and the top 10 pages for each. Not one of those 70 pages published a price. You find out the cost on the third call, after the demo.

3. Custom simulations built on your company. Your products, your customers, your numbers, and your hardest calls become the simulation. This is where Learn2 works, and we publish the price: $10,000 to $25,000 for the design, build, and first live cohort, plus $99 per person per year for practice after that.

What pushes the price up or down

Inside the custom range, four things move the number.

  • How much of the business you build in. One sales conversation costs less than a whole business system with pricing, capacity, cash, and talent all moving at once.
  • The tier your people need. A first tier could build systems thinking in frontline leaders. A second could add pricing and profit in a market with real demand. A top tier could add a live stock market where executive teams compete to buy each other out.
  • How many scenarios, markets, and languages you want. Each new buyer type or region is more design work.
  • Travel. A live cohort in your building adds travel costs for the facilitators. A virtual cohort adds none.

One thing does not change the number: currency. We charge the same figure in US dollars, Canadian dollars, and euros.

Do the per-person math before the demo call

Sticker price misleads in both directions. Here is a simple way to compare.

Say you build a $25,000 simulation and run your first cohort of 30 leaders. That is about $833 a person for the first cohort. Next year you add 100 more people to the practice system at $99 each, or $9,900. The simulation is already built, so the cost per person keeps falling with every new hire who practices on it.

A $40 seat license looks far cheaper next to that. Then ask what each one buys. A seat license buys a term with a fictional company. The custom build buys your own business, run by your own people, with every future hire practicing on the same thing.

The fair test is cost per behavior change. A cheap simulation that nobody uses at work costs more than a pricier one that changes how your team sells, prices, or decides. Our guide on the five places development ROI shows up covers how to put a number on that return for your CFO.

What the price includes at Learn2

The $10,000 to $25,000 buys three things.

A design call. We set the scenarios with you. Your people name the real situations they get stuck on: the buyer who stalls, the price objection, the budget call that goes wrong.

One live day, built by your people. Participants drive the experience. We design the conditions. Your best people bring their own approach to your real buyers and your real numbers. Everyone contributes, so everyone owns the result. That ownership is the reason a simulation still gets used a year later.

The simulator that comes out of the room. We capture what worked best in the room: the answer that landed and the question that opened a buyer up. That becomes the practice system your next hire uses. The $99 per person per year keeps it running for the whole team.

If you want to see the full family of formats, our business simulation training page shows how each one runs. For leaders who need to feel how pricing, cash, and capacity connect, the business acumen simulation built on your own company is the closest fit, with the same published price.

Why the return matters more than the price

A simulation is a place to practice. The money comes back when people use that practice at work.

American Express saw this in its US and Canada call centers. The teams ran Learn2's Sell Naturally, Share Sales Best Practices, and Sales Playbooks experiences. They built their own best-practice playbooks instead of receiving one. Insurance sales rose 147% in under a year, and some agents began selling two insurance products on a single card activation.

That is the question to bring to any vendor. Ask what your people will do differently on Monday, and how you will see it in the numbers.

When an off-the-shelf simulation is the better buy

Custom is not always the right call. A seat license could be the smarter spend when:

  • You run a business school course with a large class each term.
  • You want broad business basics, not your own company's choices.
  • Your whole budget is a few thousand dollars.

If that is you, an academic platform will serve you well. Our honest comparison of business simulation companies lists the main vendors, what each does best, and where each falls short, including us.

Four questions to ask any vendor about price

Bring these to every call. A vendor who cannot answer them in writing is telling you something.

  • What is the total for year one? Ask for design, build, delivery, licenses, and travel in one number.
  • What does year two cost? Some prices drop once the build is paid. Some reset every year.
  • Whose company is in the simulation? Yours, or a fictional one?
  • Who can run it after the first cohort? If your own leaders can run it, the cost of every later cohort falls.

On that last point, a senior leader could get certified as a Learn2 facilitator and run the simulation for each new group. If your simulation is about selling, our guide on how to build a custom sales simulator walks through the build step by step, and the sales management simulation shows what the same approach looks like for new sales managers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a business simulation cost?

It depends on the model. Classroom seat licenses can run under $50 per seat. A custom Learn2 simulation built on your company costs $10,000 to $25,000 for design, build, and the first live cohort, plus $99 per person per year for ongoing practice.

Why do most business simulation vendors not publish prices?

Most price by quote, so the number comes after a demo call. When we checked 70 ranking pages across seven simulation searches in August 2026, none listed a price. Learn2 publishes its range so you can budget before you talk to anyone.

Is a custom business simulation worth the extra cost?

It is worth it when you want people to practice your own decisions with your own numbers. A seat license is the better buy for a business school class or a very small budget. Compare cost per behavior change, not cost per seat.

What is included in the $10,000 to $25,000?

A design call to set your scenarios, one live day where your people build the simulation together, and the first cohort. What the room creates becomes the practice system your future hires use, at $99 per person per year.

Does the price change outside the United States?

No. Learn2 charges the same number in US dollars, Canadian dollars, and euros. Travel for a live cohort in your building is extra.
