On August 8, 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton and 28 crew members set sail on the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. The Endurance was crushed by ice in the Weddell Sea. For 22 months, stranded in the harshest environment on Earth, not one crew member died.

Shackleton led them to South Georgia Island across 800 miles of open ocean. On August 30, 1916 — every soul was rescued. The Endurance was found 107 years later, perfectly preserved under 3,008 metres of ocean.
