There are so many things about the story of Shackleton, his crew, and the Endurance that inspire us. It is a story of aspirations to greatness, of survival, of essentialism, and of unwavering leadership. Against impossible odds, they discovered something within themselves – greater than their circumstances – that helped them overcome the freezing conditions, lethargy, hopelessness, and strife. Their inner, collective fire burned so bright that kept them alive long enough to be rescued. After 22 months at frozen sea, not a single life was lost.
As the ship was recently found in the depths of the Antarctic Sea, we want to honour the tremendous bravery, efficacy, and enduring human spirit of the ship, her crew, and Captain Ernest Shackleton.
