2012 – Doug Bolger receives Meetings Industry Influence Award

Toronto, ON – April 20, 2012 – Learn2’s Founder and Chief Learning Officer, Doug Bolger, received the MPI Toronto Chapter’s Influence Award during National Meetings Industry Day. This award recognizes people or organizations outside the direct industry that have supported and assisted in the development of meetings and conventions or the development of policy and programs impacting the industry. Each year, MPI chapters from across Canada recognize a person or organization who made a difference to the meetings industry. This award recognizes the efforts of an invaluable partner and supporter of both MPI and the Global Meetings and Convention Industry.

“It speaks volumes that the meetings and events industry awards influencers” says Doug Bolger. “Working collaboratively with the associations, boards, planners and suppliers to innovate and invigorate – designing events of the future – that’s what this industry and this award represent. I’m proud and honoured to accept on behalf of the Learn2 team of staff, designers, facilitators, coaches and of course – all our participants.”

Learn2’s creative and customizable training programs initially drew interest from meeting planners as keynotes and sessions to include in conference programs. Soon Learn2 was conducting sessions for planners, venues and industry associations, examining ways to build attendance, communicate business results, build strong relationships, and re-invent events.
In the past year Doug facilitated an industry impacting fact-finding roundtable discussion with key industry associations. He also continued to challenge the industry to work better together and build stronger relationships through articles and active participation in industry events.

“ The MPI Toronto Chapter is very pleased to present this award to a refreshing and insightful influencer like Doug Bolger and Learn2. With Canada’s meetings sector being a $32 Billion industry it’s important to introduce new ways of thinking and new ideas to keep our industry growing strong,” says Brenda Carter, President of MPI Toronto Chapter.

National Meetings Industry Day is celebrated Canada wide with each MPI chapter recognizing a local company for their significant role in supporting the development or success of the industry over the past year. Toronto’s Industry Influence award is sponsored by Tourism Toronto.
