Position Description

Do you want to become a Social Media & Engagement Intern who discovers and innovates how to grow social followers, engage and retain them, and convert them into customers, and active promoters?

Do you have command of best practices & trends in social media marketing, enjoy being creative, and understand how to both build & convert a digital audience?

The highly-skilled and organized Social Media & Engagement Intern is an integral part of the marketing chain by working alongside the Marketing team to contribute to the quarterly editorial calendar, create new content, source relevant & effective curated content, and track analytics to determine the return on investment.

The Social Media & Engagement Intern reports to the Manager of Making it Happen, works closely with the VP Program Development and other key team members, including the CEO. The ability to work collaboratively and creatively within a distributed organization is vital to this position, since team members are in different locations.

The Position

Position Responsibilities

  • Continue to build and manage the company’s social media profiles & presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Periscope.
  • Create and share shareable content appropriate for specific networks to both spread our brand, our content, links.
  • Listen and engage in relevant social discussion about our company, competitors, and/or industry, both from existing customers, leads, from brand new audiences that don’t yet know us.
  • Run regular social promotions & campaigns, track their success, ranging from Twitter chats, to Google+ Hangouts, to LinkedIn conversations, as well as the content and links posted through these channels
  • Work alongside others in the marketing team to create the editorial calendar to encompass the full spectrum of marketing assets for distribution.
  • Work alongside other content creators and channel marketers to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience.
  • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence.
  • Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target buyers by using personas.
  • Create and manage social media consent process when “live posting” from client programs.
  • Track analytics and report on them weekly against the editorial calendar.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and customer challenges.
  • Determine sources for content creation, both internally and externally
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

Relevant experience in social media marketing for business is helpful; 1 – 2 years minimum. If you have to learn everything, then be prepared to invest your own time learning after hours and weekends.

Education

University Degree or College Diploma is preferred – although proven experience is more important. Self-taught is also preferred, if you learned how to do it to get it done for someone – show us.

Stuff we want you to have ideally

  • Experience with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite plus others
  • Background or interest in learning & development
  • Experience with business to business sales

Location Info

The Social Media & Engagement Intern will work in Etobicoke at the Learn2 office at 2970 Lake Shore Blvd. West. We are located on the Lakeshore Street car line and a bus ride from Islington TTC station.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel is required for this job. Travel expenses are paid for or reimbursed by Learn2.

Hours

This is a full-time (37.5 hrs/week), Internship position for a period of four months beginning April 2017. If you become indispensable then who knows how long you’ll work here.
